Supporting the Transition to Primary School

At Potton Pre-School, we recognise that starting primary school is a significant milestone for every child and their family. We are committed to supporting each child to ensure a smooth, confident transition to the next stage of their educational journey.

Throughout the year, we provide a range of activities and experiences designed to build children's independence, resilience, and readiness for school. This includes developing self-care skills, encouraging communication and social interaction, and promoting a love of learning.

We work closely with local primary schools to ensure that each child's transition is as smooth and positive as possible. This includes sharing key information with Reception teachers, arranging transition visits, and offering tailored support to meet the individual needs of every child. Our strong relationships with local schools help to create continuity and reassurance for both children and families during this important time. We are available to offer advice and guidance to parents and carers throughout the transition process, ensuring that families feel fully informed and supported.

Applying for a Reception School Place

Applications for Reception class places at primary schools are managed by Central Bedfordshire Council. Parents and carers of children due to start school are required to submit an application in line with the council's admissions process.
