Early Years Pupil Premium

Supporting Every Child to Thrive

At Potton Pre-School, we are committed to giving every child the best possible start in life. The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) helps us do just that — by providing additional funding to support the development, learning, and well-being of eligible children.

What is EYPP?

The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is extra funding provided by the government to early years settings to improve outcomes for children aged 3 and 4 years who meet certain eligibility criteria. It is designed to help close the attainment gap between disadvantaged children and their peers.

How is the Funding Used?

We use EYPP funding in thoughtful and targeted ways to support the learning and development of eligible children. Examples of how we may use the funding include:

      - Enhancing Learning

  • Providing high-quality resources to support language, communication, and early literacy
  • Purchasing sensory and play-based learning materials tailored to individual needs

       - Staff Training & Development

  • Funding staff CPD to improve teaching and support strategies (e.g., speech and language development, SEND support)
  • Supporting staff to deliver evidence-based interventions and inclusive practices

      - Working with Families

  • Offering parent workshops and home-learning resources
  • Providing family support or referrals to external agencies where needed

 - Supporting Well-being

  • Funding enrichment opportunities like music, movement, and mindfulness sessions
  • Providing additional key person time for building strong emotional bonds

How Do We Measure Impact?

We monitor the impact of EYPP by:

  • Tracking the progress of eligible children through observations and assessments
  • Setting clear learning outcomes and reviewing them regularly
  • Sharing progress with parents/carers and involving them in the process

Eligibility Criteria

Children may be eligible for EYPP if their family receives certain benefits, such as:

  • Income Support
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Universal Credit (with income limits)
  • Or if they are in care, adopted from care, or under a special guardianship/residency order

You can check eligibility via your local authority or ask a member of our team for support.

Working in Partnership

We believe that strong relationships between staff, children, and families are key to making the most of EYPP. Our team is always available to explain how we use the funding and how it benefits your child.

Giving Every Child the Best Start

At Potton Pre-School, we are proud to use EYPP to enhance our provision and ensure every child — regardless of background — can grow, learn, and flourish.
